LG chief stresses innovation to employees amid technology competition

SEOUL, Dec. 22 (Yonhap) — LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo on Monday urged employees to pursue innovation to create new value that can impress consumers amid intensifying technological competition in the market.

“We have been dreaming of a future that cannot be achieved without LG and have been taking steps forward by realizing that vision. But as much as we make efforts, the world is changing at a faster pace,” Koo said in a New Year message sent to employees.

“The rules of technology paradigms and competition are changing, and consumers’ expectations are growing. Thus, we need to leap forward with new innovation that surpasses existing measures of success,” he added.

Koo said LG Group needs to choose an “uncompromisable value” to set the direction of the conglomerate’s innovation.

“After choosing the value, we need to dig into levels deemed impossible by others, and such concentration will create experiences that customers feel are truly different, while changing the world’s standard,” he said.
