    Cyber fraud accused with 5k reward nabbed

    Surat: Chowk Bazar police have arrested a 25-year-old history-sheeter who was carrying a Rs 5,000 reward on his head in connection with multiple cyber fraud cases across the country.The accused, identified as Shaivin Pumbhadiya has six FIRs registered against him at police stations in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Dwarka and Cyber Outer (Delhi), Shravasti (Uttar Pradesh), and Yellandu (Telangana), involving a total fraud amount of Rs 3.80 crore.The Bhopal police had declared a Rs 5,000 reward on him in a Rs 61 lakhcyber fraudcase after he remained untraceable despite repeated attempts.According to police, Pumbhadiya was arrested following a tip-off that he was hiding in the Chowk Bazar area. After keeping him under surveillance for two days, police apprehended him from the area.Apart from the six FIRs, police said the accused is also allegedly involved in four other cyber fraud cases registered on the NationalCyber CrimeReporting Portal (NCCRP), including one case each in Visakhapatnam, Mathura, Rajkot City and Pudukottai.Police said Pumbhadiya had earlier been arrested by the New Delhi Special Cell in a cheating and criminal conspiracy case registered last year and was involved in supplying bank accounts used to receive cyber fraud money.After being booked in several cases, the accused had gone absconding and stopped using a mobile phone to evade police action. Police said they received information that he had come to Surat for a social engagement and arrested him from the venue.Police said the accused will be handed over to the Bhopal police for further investigation.
