    South Lyon Community School District shut down for third day following cybersecurity incident

    OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – South Lyon Community School District announced that it will be shut down for a third day following a network outage that caused a security incident that affected some of its systems.

    Due to the ongoing situation, all South Lyon Community Schools will also be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025.

    “Unfortunately, SLCS will be closed tomorrow, September 17th, due to the network interruptions and phone systems being down. Our teams are continuing to work diligently to restore impacted systems.

    While there has been significant improvement, we cannot ensure our systems will be restored to the level of security and communication we need to safely open school. We will provide updates as they become available.

    The incident occurred on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, causing schools to be closed on Monday (Sept. 15).

    The district confirmed that portions of its network remained shut down as a result of the incident.

    Officials stated that they are working closely with external cybersecurity experts to investigate and restore the data.

    The district stated that it is working to restore full functionality as quickly as possible, but this may take a few days.

    Parents with questions can expect to continue to receive email updates from the school district until the issue is resolved.
