MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKRC) — Frustration is mounting at Middletown City Hall following a cyberattack that has left the city’s computer systems crippled for over a week.
Despite the passage of time, city officials have released little information about the incident.
The cyberattack, which reportedly occurred last weekend, has left many city offices without access to computers, email, or phone services. While some services at the health department were restored on August 20, the city manager’s office has not disclosed which other services are operational.
In an effort to gather more information, Local 12 attended a tax incentive review council meeting to question elected officials about the situation. Middletown City Council Member Paul Lollie was approached for comment.
“Yes, we’re here for a tax incentive review committee meeting. That’s what’s going on,” Lollie said when asked about the cyberattack.
When pressed further, Lollie declined to comment on the situation.
“I’m sorry, but I’m tied up with this,” said Lollie. “Nope.”
Despite limited information, it has been confirmed that 911 services remain unaffected by the outage. However, many residents are still left in the dark, waiting at closed windows for updates on the situation.
