Malaysia’s President Anwar Ibrahim commended the United States for leading peace efforts, particularly its involvement in mediating the Gaza accord. He described the recent initiatives as “commendable steps toward stability” and acknowledged Washington’s growing diplomatic engagement in Asia. Trump’s visit, he said, reflected a changing global order where cooperation is valued over confrontation. The moment also highlighted Malaysia’s rising role as a neutral platform for peace negotiations in the region.

Before departing for Kuala Lumpur, Trump shared on Truth Social that he was traveling to sign a “tremendous peace agreement,” expressing pride in having initiated the peace process. The enhanced ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia builds on a truce negotiated three months earlier after Trump personally urged both leaders to end hostilities. By linking diplomacy to trade partnerships, Trump reinforced his long-stated message that peace is not only moral but also economically beneficial for all parties involved.
