Boise State University’s online Bachelor’s Degree in Cyber Operations and Resilience and online Master of Science in Cyber Operations and Resilience programs provide stackable credentials to help boost your cybersecurity career.
The undergraduate degree has two options — a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Cyber Operations and Resilience.
The former is for students with an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science or no prior college credits, while the latter is for students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science or have some technical associate credits.
This degree offers the same cybersecurity content and allows you to leverage up to 47 of your technical credits earned at another accredited institution.
The programs are designed to prepare you to become a cybersecurity professional with practical skills in operational thinking, tools and methodologies that reduce risk and strengthen system resilience.
With multiple credential and certification options, the curriculum stacks on itself, giving you quick results in both your education and cybersecurity career.
The undergraduate degree 12-credit certificate options that can be completed in as few as two semesters are:
- Certificate in Cyber for All: Bridge the gap between fundamental cyber defense skills and the implications of good versus bad cyber hygiene.
- Certificate in Cyber Operations: Learn to create and protect resilient systems and networks centered on real-world application in your cybersecurity career.
- Certificate in Applied Computing, Systems and Networks: Learn the fundamentals of secure design, computational thinking, cloud computing, python programming and more.
The graduate degree 9-credit certificate options with possible cybersecurity career outcomes of cyber defense analyst, cyber security analyst and information security analyst can also be completed in as few as two semesters. They are:
- Graduate Certificate in Analyst and Threat Intelligence: Centered on real-world application, you will prepare to be an industry-ready professional and create and protect resilient systems and networks.
- Graduate Certificate in Governance Policy Administration: Prepare to fully support the cyber world, defend critical infrastructures and protect homes with resiliency in mind.
- Graduate Certificate in Resilience Engineering: Similar to Analyst and Threat Intelligence, this option focuses on real-world application for your cybersecurity career and prepares you to be an industry-ready professional.
The undergraduate programs also offer a cyber emphasis area for non-cyber bachelor’s degrees. Certificates can be added to a bachelor’s degree or earned as stand-alone credentials.
The stackable certificates give you the option of earning a degree while adding extra knowledge in specific areas in line with your cybersecurity career goals.
Ashley Sequeira, a graduate of the online Master of Science in Cyber Operations and Resilience program, benefitted greatly from the tailored degree.
“I was working for another cybersecurity firm before I started at Boise State, but Google poached me from my last company,” she said. “I was able to speak to things that I did in the master’s program in my interviews, and even in the way I am having conversations with leaders in my organization. I hear myself speaking and articulating in different ways because of what I have learned.”
Ashley Furr, a student of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Cyber Operations and Resilience program, believes the degree is one of the most practical options available.
“Everything’s moving more and more digital — because that’s where the new frontier is moving — so why not try to jump into the field and try to protect those digital assets and those resources?” she said. “With that, I’m looking at roles in governance, risk and compliance, cyber insurance, risk assessments, risk awareness training or public education and outreach.”
