President Trump’s address to the United Nations sparked a wave of blistering international headlines, with newspapers describing it as “pissing off the world,” “staggering,” “violent,” and “incoherent.”

In his first appearance at the United Nations since being reelected, Trump delivered an hour-long speech Tuesday in which he lambasted world leaders over immigration, climate change, and global conflicts.

“It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders. You have to end it now. I can tell you, I’m really good at this stuff. Your countries are going to hell,” Trump said in his address.

His speech drew negative reactions across Europe.

Britain’s Daily Mirror labeled the remarks “deranged,” on its front page and called the speech “an extraordinary rant against Europe.”

France’s Libération wrote “Trump is pissing off the world,” describing the address as “staggering,” “violent,” and “incoherent.”

In his speech, Trump criticized the global body for inaction, saying it was filled with “empty words” that “don’t solve wars.”

“What is the purpose of the United Nations?” Trump asked during his speech.

“For the most part, at least for now, all they seem to do is write a really strongly worded letter and then never follow that letter up. It’s empty words, and empty words don’t solve war,” Trump added.

Spain’s El País said Trump’s speech “broke the most basic rules of diplomacy” adding that the president repeatedly “veered off script.”
