Renault unveils Filante crossover for global markets

Renault has unveiled the Filante, an E-segment hybrid crossover that will serve as the brand’s international flagship as part of its 2027 International Game Plan targeting markets outside Europe. Built at Renault Korea’s Busan plant, the Filante is powered by the automaker’s E-Tech 250 full hybrid system producing 250 ps, developed on the CMA platform in collaboration with Alliance partners.

The crossover will launch in South Korea in March 2026 before expanding to select Latin American markets including Colombia, Chile and Uruguay, followed by the Gulf States in early 2027. Renault said the model targets the E segment, which holds 26.2% market share in South Korea. The Filante joins the Kardian, Duster, Boreal and Koleos as part of the automaker’s plan to launch eight new vehicles outside Europe between 2024 and 2027.

The Filante introduces three driving aids new to Renault’s range: emergency steering assist, smart rearview mirror and child presence detection. The cabin features lounge-style seating with customisable lighting.

The name references the Étoile Filante, a prototype that set multiple world speed records at Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats in 1956, as well as the 2025 Filante Record electric concept car.

In a statement, Fabrice Cambolive, Chief Growth Officer at Renault Group and Chief Executive of Renault brand, said: “Filante perfectly illustrates our approach, combining Renault’s French DNA—emotional design, humanised technology and best in class electrified technology—with Korean excellence to meet local customer expectations.”
