Chinese EV Makers Target Global Markets at Beijing Auto Show

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers exhibiting at the Beijing auto show are increasingly directing their attention toward international markets, according to information from the exhibition. The shift comes as they seek to take advantage of opportunities arising from the Middle East crisis, hoping to improve their financial performance while domestic sales remain weak.

Nearly all major EV producers participating in Auto China, described as the world’s largest car show, have either presented their newest models created for export or have disclosed growth objectives for regions such as Europe and Latin America, where vehicles can fetch higher prices.

State-owned GAC Group announced it would enter foreign markets with three vehicles, one of which is a hybrid SUV boasting a driving range of 1,240 kilometers. In a statement released on Friday, the company described the global automotive industry as facing historic prospects from technological convergence and energy transformation, adding that internationalization represents a decisive move that will shape its future.

The Beijing auto show, running from Friday through May 3, is taking place at two locations: the China International Exhibition Centre and the Capital International Exhibition Centre.
